Community Guidelines

Last updated: June 11, 2026

ItsMyScene is a local live-music community. These guidelines explain what we expect on public parts of the platform — messageboard threads, articles, reviews, band and venue pages, photo albums, and profiles. They work together with our Terms of Service. Our goal is simple: keep the scene welcoming, honest, and safe without sanitizing how real fans and musicians actually talk about shows.

Tone: PG-13, not puritanical

Casual swearing is fine when it fits the conversation — "that set was fucking incredible" is the kind of hype we want. We're not looking for sterile corporate language.

What doesn't belong: hostility aimed at people, hate toward groups, sexual content, harassment, or posts where profanity is basically the entire message. We may hide content or ask you to revise it when it crosses that line.

We do not censor or mask words when you read posts. If something violated the rules, we remove or reject it at submission time instead of asterisking it in place.

Zero tolerance

Slurs, hate symbols, and clear hate speech are never allowed — not in jokes, not in song lyrics you quote, not "ironic." Submissions that match our blocklist are rejected immediately.

This applies everywhere text is visible to the community, including display names (where we enforce the strictest check).

Be real about the scene

Share accurate information when you can. Show times change, doors open late, and listings get stale — update them when you know better.

Promoting your own band, venue, or show is welcome when it's honest and relevant to the local scene. Spam, gibberish, and drive-by advertising with no connection to live music are not.

Rate and review based on your experience. Don't brigade, retaliate, or coordinate fake scores.

Respect people

You may disagree about music; don't cross into personal attacks. In particular, do not:

  • Harass, threaten, or dox other users, artists, venue staff, or anyone else.
  • Post sexual content, solicit nudes, or sexualize minors in any way.
  • Impersonate someone else or misrepresent who you are.
  • Share private messages or contact info without permission.
  • Use the platform to organize illegal activity.

Photos and media

Upload photos you have the right to share. Live-music photography, flyers, and venue shots are the point; unrelated stock imagery, watermarked promo grabs, and explicit imagery are not.

Captions and album descriptions follow the same PG-13 rules as other public text.

Direct messages

Private messages are between participants. We do not scan routine DMs for profanity or tone.

We do run safety checks for credible threats, encouragement of self-harm, mass-violence planning, and similar imminent-harm signals. Severe hits may block delivery and alert our moderation team.

You can report a conversation at any time. Reported threads receive a full review under these guidelines.

How enforcement works

Automated checks (including AI-assisted review) may flag or reject content when you submit it. You'll get a clear error when a submission is rejected; borderline cases may publish first and land in a moderator queue.

Repeated or serious violations can lead to probation, hidden content, or account suspension. Admins may remove content that violates these guidelines even if it slipped through automation.

If you think we made a mistake, contact us — see Appeals below.
